Personal Information
Charles "Kim" Coit. Following graduation from Yale in 1966, he sailed across the Atlantic in a 40 yawl on his way to spending a year in Beirut, Lebanon, where he taught English as a foreign language to Arab students at International College. From there it was on to Boston College Law School and the practice of law in Boston for 5 years before moving to Maine where he has been involved with the real estate brokerage industry since 1977.
He started with a faculty/staff position at University of Southern Maine, as Director of its Center for Real Estate Education where he worked for 10 years. He then was hired as training director for Maine's largest real estate agency, Mark Stimson Associates; in addition, he was the compliance officer, responsible for keeping the company and its agents out of the clutches of the legal system.
Since 1998, he has had similar responsibilities at RE/MAX By The Bay in Portland, and RE/MAX Riverside in Topsham, two of Maine's most productive real estate agencies. He has continued to teach at the University of Southern Maine, serve as President of the Maine Association of REALTORS and volunteer at Longcreek Youth Development Center, formerly the Maine Youth Center. He is married, has four children and a dog. During the summer, he spends as much time as possible cruising the coast of Maine on Muskrat Ramble, his 30 foot sloop named after a favorite Dixieland tune. |
