Don Spann co-owns RE/MAX Riverside with his wife Sue Spann, is a licensed commercial/residential Realtor and head of their commercial real estate division. He moved to Maine in 1983, when he accepted a position in the Planning Department at Bath Iron Works, in Bath, Maine where he held numerous Management positions prior to his retirement in January 2005. He is a native of Louisiana, although he grew up in McLean, VA, and graduated with a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University Of Virginia where he also received his commission in the U.S. Navy.
He married Sue, whom he met at UVA, in 1971. They have two children, Jeff and Kristen. Jeff is also a graduate of the University of Virginia, and attended Law School at William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He practices law in Philadelphia. Kristen is a graduate of the University Of New Hampshire Whittemore School Of Business, Durham, NH. She is an owner, instructor and trainer with Cater Stables in Dunbarton, NH. Don and Sue presently have a number of American Saddlebred horses in training with Cater Stables. Don and his Hackney Pony, Dunhaven’s Highly Impressive have won a number of Roadster pony Championships throughout New England.
Don has always been very active in the Community, recently, having held leadership roles and on the Board of Directors of BBBS for the past 5+ years. He is currently a member and on the Board of the Topsham Rotary, Chairman of the Topsham Planning Board, a member of the MidCoast Council of Governments Loan Committee, a Board Member of the Southern MidCoast Chamber of Commerce and a member of Topsham Development INC. (TDI). |
